WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 11 April 2021
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even
when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have
been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the
heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Ephesians 2:4-6
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. God’s Part in giving us salvation
a) This must never be taken lightly
b) It is good to review and to reflect on what God has done
2. Why would God go to such an extent to save us?
a) Because He is rich in mercy
b) Because of His great love
c) Because of His grace
3. The mighty acts of God
a) He made us alive, when we were dead in trespasses and sins
b) The illustration given
i) God raised the Lord Jesus from the dead
ii) He has raised us from the dead too
c) He has saved us
i) By His grace
ii) His love has been called correctly, “Amazing Grace”
4. Especially gracious acts of God
a) He raised us up together with the Lord Jesus
b) He has made us sit together in the heavenly places
5. The Person who made it all possible
a) The Lord Jesus Christ
b) God has done all these things
i) For the Lord Jesus
ii) Through the Lord Jesus
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. Remembering
a) Our sinfulness
b) Our unworthiness
2. Rejoicing
a) In God’s mercy
b) In His love
c) In His grace
d) In the Lord Jesus Christ
3. Renewal of our love for the Lord
a) For all that He has done
b) For all that He will yet do
c) Let us serve the Lord with renewed love in our heart
